Registered Training Organisations (RTOs)

Beware of websites offering the White Card course online, as the Queensland government requires the course to be conducted face-to-face. Online courses are unlikely to be legitimate and result in a White Card. An easy way to identify a legitimate registered training organisation is to check their domain name ends in edu.au, as only government-approved providers have access to this domain name.

Can you get a White Card online in QLD?

No, the White Card course must be conducted face-to-face since 2019. WorkSafe Queensland updated the delivery method to be in line with other states such as New South Wales and Victoria that do not allow online delivery.

To be eligible to complete the White Card online, your residential address must be at least 100km away from the nearest White Card training provider. This means Queensland learners living in the Brisbane, Gold Coast and Ipswich region will most likely not be able to complete an online course. Instead, they will be required to attend a face-to-face session with an approved White Card training provider.

Construction industry White Card face-to-face assessments

Learners will be supplied with all learning resources and assessment tools required to complete their White Card training. Learners will be required to complete training and assessment tasks with assistance from a qualified trainer assessor prior to being issued their construction induction cards.

The assessment process includes a series of questions based on common workplace situations. Participants will be required to provide answers verbally, as well as demonstrate their ability to properly fit four industry-standard items of personal protective equipment (PPE):

  • Hard hat
  • High visibility retro-reflective shit or vest
  • Eye protection such as safety glasses or goggles
  • Hearing protection such as earmuffs or earplugs

Please note this equipment will be supplied by Tradie Training on the day, we recommend wearing casual clothing.
