Why complete this unit of competency
HLTAID011 - Provide First Aid is part of many accredited qualifications (eg. CSC30120 - Certificate III in Correctional Practice).
You can view the full list on the training package page.
Australian employers have an obligation to provide their workforce with access to trained first aid personnel and first aid equipment. For example, there must be at least 1 certified first aider for every 50 employees in an office setting, 1 in 25 on construction sites, and 1 in 10 in remote high risk workplaces (eg. mines).
As a result, certified first aiders are valuable to employers and you could be asked to complete the training by your existing employer, or it could improve your employment prospects when looking for work.
How to complete the training
The training is delivered by registered training organisations (RTOs). Course participants that successfully complete the training will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for HLTAID011 Provide First Aid, HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support and HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
First aid certificates are valid for 3 years. CPR certificates are valid for 1 year.
